My first fall purchase is a navy trench coat. I have a classic beige one and love it, but it is much heavier and longer and for colder weather. I thought having one in a different color would be interesting as it rarely gets cold enough where I live to justify a heavier coat. My new navy one, similar to the Calvin Klein one shown above, is shorter and lighter more like a jacket. Have you visited Burbery's Art of The Trench website yet? There are many lovely pictures to gain inspiration from!

The History Of: The Hermes Scarf
Images: my personal Polyvore account
Silk scarves have come back into style this season, although did they ever really leave? This trend has had me thinking about the most famous silk scarf, the Hermès ones. The Hermès scarf, commonly known as the carré, was first introduced in 1928. Hermès oversaw the production of its scarves throughout the entire process, they purchased the raw Chinese silk, spinning it into yarn, and then weaving it into fabric that was twice as strong as most scarves available at the time. One of the first designed was a print of white-wigged females playing a popular period game and it was a custom made accessory named Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches. Each scarf is individually printed with vegetable dye. Each added color has to dry for a month before the next color is applied. The designers have over 200,000 different colors to choose from, forty-three is the highest number of screens used on one scarf. This was the “Charity” scarf released in 2006. When the production of the scarves first began there was a dedicated scarf factory in Lyon, France; that year Hermès celebrated its 100th anniversary. Contemporary Hermès scarves measure 90 cm × 90 cm, weigh 65 grams and are woven from the silk of 250 mulberry moth cocoons. All hems of the scarves are hand-stitched using a technique called hand-rolling. Each silk scarf takes around 350 hours to make! Today scarves cost from around $300 dollars and up, which does not sound as pricey now that I know how much work goes into each scarf.

BCBGeneration Fall Ad
Images: fashiongonerogue.com
The new fall collection for BCBGeneration is extremely chic and lady-like. I love the neutral colors, especially those in the first picture, and the yellow is very pretty but not too bright. I am also loving the simple wavy hair and glamorous red lips that the models are wearing. The collection seems to me to be inspired by this fall's 1970's trend, but the inspiration is not overdone meaning you can wear it for years to come while still being on trend this season. You can see the rest of their new ad here.

How To Wear The Hair Scarf Trend
Image: weheartit.com
I have recently noticed an increase in the wearing of silk head or hair scarves. And while I have always found them pretty I do not care for the new turban looks. An easy way to wear them without having to wrap all of your hair up in one is to tie a skinny one around the base of the ponytail. I usually do this with a high ponytail, but I really like it tied in a bow on a low ponytail such as the one in this glamorous Louis Vuitton ad.

The History Of: The Cartier Love Bracelet
Images: weheartit.com
The Cartier Love Bracelet was designed in 1969 by Aldo Cipullo for the french jeweler Cartier, and still remains a classic design today. The bracelet was intentionally designed to resemble a medieval chastity belt. It can only be taken off with a small screw driver, such as the one that comes with the bracelet shown above. The screwdriver is also available in the form of a necklace for one partner to wear as a sign of commitment. I think this bracelet is simple and elegant, I do not care for the ones encrusted with diamonds, and can be worn with almost any outfit. But depending on how difficult it is to take the bracelet off could defer me from wanting to wear one. This bracelet remains internationally beloved to this day and has spawned an entire line of jewelry inspired by the original.

New Chloé Ad

The new ad for Chloé perfume is very simple, which I like because it makes you focus on the perfume versus a garden or beach scene. The bottle is pretty as always and so are the models Imogen Poots and Camille Rowe.

Givenchy Fall 2011 Couture
Images: weheartit.com, last photograph was provided by style.com and edited by me.
The fall Givenchy couture collection was made of stunning fabrics, shimmering beading, and contained intricate details. Although beautiful, the opalescent collection was not wearable in the slightest. Each dress needs to be altered and added lining. My favorite dress was the most appropriate, but still would require lining added to the bottom.

Paris In Pastels
Images: weheartit.com
These pictures of Paris in pastel light are stunning, and it is refreshing to see such pictures taken of Paris in the fall instead of the spring. There are no flower blossoms on the trees, but red and orange leaves in their place. Fall in Paris would be a wonderful time to visit, but so would any time of the year.

Film Review: Midnight In Paris
Images: weheartit.com
I know I am a little bit late on this review, but I finally saw Midnight in Paris last night. I loved it, I thought the entire film was funny and interesting and it moved so fast I was shocked when it was over. The film, directed by Woody Allen, and staring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. One of my favorite actresses Marion Cotillard was fantastic as the artist muse Adriana and Carla Bruni did a surprisingly good job! The first few minutes of the film were just absolutely stunning shots of Paris and the rest of the film shows the best of Paris. If you love 1920's fashion, you will love the costumes during the midnight time travel scenes. Although I loved the flapper dresses, Rachel McAdams' dresses really caught my eye, I loved her chic shirt dresses. This film was so different from anything I have ever seen, it is sure to be an instant classic.

Red By Valentino Spring 2011 Campaign

I not only love this ad campaign for Red by Valentino , but the entire collection as well. I think the whole collection is pretty, girly, clean, classic and chic. These pictures are gorgeous as are the black and white pictures from the campaign, which I will be posting those soon. There is little time left to get your hands on this collection as fall is rapidly coming.

Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Body And Bath Collection
Image: sephora.com
When I saw the title of this bath collection I was instantly intrigued as I love creme brulee. Unfortunately it is only sold online so I have yet to try the collection, but it has received rave reviews. I would love to try the sugar scrub, as that is my favorite beauty indulgence, or the honey bath which sounds amazing. The lotions have been reviewed as extremely moisturizing and as having a wonderfully sweet scent. I plan to try some of these products very soon! An added bonus, aren't the jars chic?
Fall Wardrobe Desires: Ballerina Inspired

Images: netaporter.com, weheartit.com
Due to the popularity of the Black Swan, ballerina inspired clothing was everywhere this spring. However I find it more fit for the fall when it is too cold to wear the dresses and skirts inspired by the trend and am too busy with the beginning of a new school year to put much effort into my hair or nails. I am not inspired by the tulle and frills of ballerinas like most, I find the simplicity the most appealing. It is so easy to wear elegant style inspired by ballerinas, a pretty pale pink camisole underneath a wrap sweater, soft leather ballet flats, and accessories with ribbon details. In regards to beauty and hair I find it easy to follow this inspiration by pulling hair into a simple bun, using easy to apply neutrals in my make-up palette and my favorite Chanel nail polish appropriately named Ballerina, it is a light pink shade that dries fast and does not show chips. The sweater is L'Agence, the shoes are Bloch, the purse and belt/headband are Lanvin, and the camisole is T by Alexander Wang.
What I Would Wear To: Kyoto
Images:my personal Polyvore account, weheartit.com
I have recently been inspired by the beauty and simplicity of Kyoto, Japan especially during the two weeks a year that the cherry blossoms bloom. This outfit was inspired by the pretty pale pink blossoms, the dress is Elizabeth and James and the shoes are Valentino, and the clean lines of the architecture led me to choose this Yves Saint Laurent clutch. What would you wear? Check out the rest of the What I Would Wear To series here.

Fall Wardrobe Desires: Muted Colors
Images: net-a-porter.com
I have a new series! It is called Fall Wardrobe Desires, starting now I will begin doing it with every season. Right now I am really looking forward to adding neutral muted colors to my fall wardrobe, they match everything and are very pretty. As much as I love dresses, sometimes it is too cold and one must be practical. I love this elegant silk crepe de chine See by Chloe blouse and what I am sure is a very soft and warm cashmere and silk blend sweater by Miu Miu which I would pair with a dark jean in either a bootleg or a skinny cut for wearing with flat riding boots. This classic Mulberry bag can hold everything I need when I am at school and this Lanvin purse is so feminine and perfect for when I want to carry something a little lighter. I fell in love with these suede Jimmy Choo heels all though they can not be worn in the rain, but these patent leather Jimmy Choo flats can. I would love to mix and match all of these items and I hope to acquire some similar pieces this fall.
