Book Review: Scarves

Images: homedesign.marthastewart.com

As you may have noticed, I have a recent fascination with silk scarves such as the Hermès and  Louis Vuitton ones I previously shared, which have come into style again.  I recently read a wonderful new book called "Scarves" by Nicky Albrechtsen and Fola Solanke which gives a visual history of scarves.  The book contains over 257 illustrations that show different interpretations of the scarf.  The book contains designs by Christian Lacroix, Nicole Miller, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and more.  This book would make a perfect gift for any woman loves beautiful things, one does not have to like fashion to enjoy this book.  The scarves shown above were designed by Yves Saint Laurent, Tannus Jeefe, an unknown designer, and Balenciaga.

What I Would Wear To: Kyoto

What I Would Wear To: Kyoto

I have recently been inspired by the beauty and simplicity of Kyoto, Japan especially during the two weeks a year that the cherry blossoms bloom.  This outfit was inspired by the pretty pale pink blossoms, the dress is Elizabeth and James and the shoes are Valentino, and the clean lines of the architecture led me to choose this Yves Saint Laurent clutch.  What would you wear?  Check out the rest of the What I Would Wear To series here.

Yves Saint Laurent Lipsticks

I think Yves Saint Laurent's lipsticks are lovely.  I love the gold tubes and pearl or colored accents.  An added bonus is that the gold tube will be much easier to find in your purse than a black one.

Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2012

The Yves Saint Laurent Resort collection was nautical inspired and filled with classic colors one can wear every season. The clothes were feminine and the hair and makeup was clean and pretty.

Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2011 RTW

Images: style.com

The Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2011 RTW collection was filled with classic colors and new shapes, creating non boring neutral dresses.  While the navy blue pieces seemed better for fall and winter, the beige works for spring as well of the rest of the year.  The dresses above were my favorite from the collection, but the whole show is worth taking a look at.

Perfume on Display

I love this photo of what appears to be some sort of table used for getting ready.  I love the whites and pastels as well as the simple pretty flowers.  I am especially fond of the mat for all the pretty displayable perfume bottles and makeup.  I often times find myself wanting perfume just for the pretty bottles, however I do own the Chanel Mademoiselle one shown above and it smells as wonderful as it looks.

Perfect For Paris

This dress is from the Christian Dior Spring 2011 RTW collection; and while I normally do not care for black in spring, you can wear black any time of the year in Paris.
